In case you’re new to this shindig…here at Novitas we watch a movie every Friday, and I review the movie that we watch because I like movies and take any chance I have to talk about them. Now that the intro is out of the way, let’s get to the meat and potatoes on this.

The movie we watched last Friday 1/8/16 was Jurassic World. Jurassic World is a sequel to the 1993 Steven Spielberg classic Jurassic Park, and let me just say now, Jurassic World is nowhere near as good as JP. But before I get into my full thoughts on the movie, let me give you a rundown of the plot. Boy and Older Boy (they weren’t memorable characters enough for me to remember their names) get sent by their parents to the newly opened Jurassic Park for a fun vacation, while the parents try to solve their marital issues. Don’t be fooled by the parental plot sounding interesting and engaging, because it’s not, it’s paper thin and basically forgotten about once the two main ¨characters¨ get to the park. Generic character 1 & 2 get to the park and are placed in the care of generic workaholic female character 1, who is their Aunt. Workaholic is too busy with work to watch them so she places them in the care of her secretary. To prevent spoilers in the case that you want to see this movie, boy and older boy enjoy the park until things start to get out of hand (dinosaurs get out of their cages) and they have to survive the challenges presented by these problems. Oh yeah, there is one more stereotypical character played by the amazing Chris Pratt (Parks and Rec, Guardians of the Galaxy) who is meant to be super cool, gritty, strong guy but ultimately just comes off as poorly written and someone the writers tried to hard to make cool with all the youngsters.
